The Devon Art Society based in Torquay, welcomes everyone interested in the practice of the visual arts. Our members are both amateur and professional artists as well as those who simply have an interest in art. The aims of The Devon Art Society are: ‘To foster interest in the creative visual arts and to assist in the conceptual and technical development of its members.’ 

 

Programme

We have an inspiring programme of demonstrations and workshops as well as Tuesday morning painting sessions. Prominent professional artists give demonstrations and run workshops for us from autumn to spring. Our demonstrations, workshops and Tuesday morning sessions are planned to cover a wide breadth of artistic styles encouraging us to move outside our comfort zone and improve our artistic skills.

 

Painting in a group on Tuesdays supports and encourages our learning and is very enjoyable. We are proud of our new mentoring scheme which offers help and advice to new members and beginners.

 

​Anyone who is interested in joining us is welcome to come along to one of our meetings, talk to members and enjoy a painting session (There is a session fee for non members of £3.00 or you can download a membership application form here).

During the summer months members meet up in and around the magnificent coast and countryside of South Devon. This is an ideal opportunity to gather source material in sketchbooks ready for those weather-induced indoor sessions.

 

The society exhibits in Spring and Summer at St. Anne’s Hall, Babbacombe. Stunning paintings are displayed at each exhibition with additional miniatures on display in our Summer Exhibition.

 

Tuesday morning studio meetings prompt start 10am – 12noon
Monthly Wednesday evening demonstrations 7.30 - 9.30 pm

• members are able to bring guests to demonstrations by appointment

Fees

Do not miss out on a great opportunity to develop your creative skills. Membership only costs £15 p.a. if you receive your Newsletter/Programme via email or £16 if you prefer to receive them by post. That is just over £1 a month and gives you the opportunity to join a thriving artist community. Joining fee from July to Dec is half price that is just £7.50 or £8 if you prefer to receive the newsletters by post.
