Welcome & About Us

Devon Art Society celebrates more than 100 years of painting and exhibiting.

Our inspiring programme of monthly evening demonstrations and all-day workshops from prominent professional artists are always well attended. These are held during the autumn, winter and spring months as are our regular Wednesday morning meetings. These sessions vary from painting from own resources, life, portrait, and themed still-life. Several festive competitions, social gatherings, critiques and trips are held throughout the year. There is a monthly ‘Bring & Buy’ table and an extensive library of books and DVDs for loan.

During the summer months members meet up in and around the magnificent coast and countryside of South Devon. This is an ideal opportunity to gather source material in sketchbooks ready for those weather-induced indoor sessions.

The society exhibits in Spring and Summer at St. Anne’s Hall, Babbacombe. Stunning paintings are displayed at each exhibition and miniatures are displayed in our Summer Exhibition.

The aims of Devon Art Society are:

‘To foster the creative visual art interests and to assist in the conceptual and technical development of its members.’

We are proud of our new mentoring scheme which offers help and advice to new members and beginners.
